I know that when I did some multimedia work at the University, we had to
hotwire a switch into the sound card (Roland RAP-10) that would allow
us to do this. Another way is to take a cable out of the front of the CD
player and run it into the soundcard. A little goofy and certainly not purely
digital.....but I haven't really tried to do it strictly with software either.  I'm
sure there is an easier way to do it.

Hey all,

Is there a way to save sounds from the CD Drive?  Whenever I use a
program
like Cooledit it will play the CD but then when I try to record the sound
turns off as if the sound chip can't do both at the same time...
