   NEVER use dos utilities to fix the disk under os/2 since they tend
   to mess up the EA for the files on the OS/2 partitions .

This depends on what you are going to do.  I suggested to Paul that he
try to tweak the partition table this way, so that OS/2 will recognize
his partition again.  This has no effect on OS/2 EAs.

I agree that using Norton Disk Doctor on an OS/2 FAT partition would
be a bad idea, but that isn't what is going on.  (The partition in
question is HPFS.)
