IBM now has help centers in RTP, North Carolina, Toronto, Canada, and Dublin, Ireland.
He might be able to get support from Dublin.

I think it is one of the ASCII characters.  I forgot if UNIX/Linux supports it, but in OS/2, DOS/95,
NT, you press ALT and the 3 digit number on the Num Pad.  QBASIC will usually list which number
that character is.
