Hard Disk Upgrades for TP365 series

Being a neophyte in the area of hard disks (and also believing what the
manual says)
I have a question for those who may have travelled along the same path and 
may have learnt otherwise.

I am looking at upgrading the disk in my 365ED from the factory 540MB to
something over a Gig, the cost of the IBM sourced disks is just a little this
side of extortion. I have read where others have used Toshiba disks to upgrade
365X and XD machines. Does anyone know if the same is true for the ED series?
