I have been using an xjack modem for over a year now with no problems.  It
needs to go into the bottom slot.  Also the phone cord needs to be folded
to one side because of the keyboard.  In the top slot I have an ethernet
card xjack.  I can only plug into the jack after the keyboard has been
opened.  I like the ruggedness of the xjacks over a plug-in doungle.
