The TP770 battery can fit in either the left or right bay. The right bay
is larger so you have to put a piece of plastic crap called a battery
adaptor. For those who need to know, this has its own IBM P/N, and I
had a heck of a time trying to find out how to obtain it -- turns out
there is no need, it is included free when you buy an extra battery.
Still, it sure is a shame that they do not make a bigger battery that would
fill the right hand bay, this would be very useful for travelling.
I am seeing about 2 hours 45 mins on the batteries. I consider this pretty
good since it is a loaded 770 (large display, 5 gig drive, 160 megs memory),
and that is with fairly heavy hard disk use (and indeed I do not let the
disk spin down, and that is with the processor on maximum speed).
P.S. it would be *really* nice if they could manage to fit a full sized
bay on the left, so that everything was interchangable, and you could put
a floppy and a CD ROM if you did not need the battery, or three hard
drives, or ...
