Somewhere on IBM's web page (grin) they give the part number for the "faulty"
Dimm socket holder .
Match it with your part number , if it matches, IBM will send you the "good"
one no charge.
Basically they didn't lay out the circuit board correctly on their first attempt.
It mostly shows up with 2 *32 MB dimms but they'll replace it anyway.
You might have a small problem because your Dimm socket holder has 8 MB
soldered on it plus the 16 MB dimm. They might go for a credit card number which if you return it(the old one) in 31 days type thing will not be charged..

I have a 760E with 32mb and I want to add a 32mb chip. I seem to remember reading a year or so ago that there was a problem
with adding memory to the second slot in the 760 series. Can anybody tell me of their experiences with this?
