Somewhere on IBM's web page (grin) they give the part number for the "faulty" Dimm socket holder . Match it with your part number , if it matches, IBM will send you the "good" one no charge. Basically they didn't lay out the circuit board correctly on their first attempt. It mostly shows up with 2 *32 MB dimms but they'll replace it anyway. You might have a small problem because your Dimm socket holder has 8 MB soldered on it plus the 16 MB dimm.
