I normally use my 755Cx in its docking station as a desktop. When I'm using
it as a desktop I remove the battery in an effort to prolong the life of the
battery. I recently installed the battery only to find the computer not
recognizing the battery. The fuel gauge shows a dotted line for the
battery. Pressing the discharge button displays a message the battery is
not installed. The charge and battery condition LED's flash periodically.
I had this same problem last summer and contacted IBM service who told me to
replace the battery. The replacement battery fixed the problem. However,
this time when I installed a brand new battery the TP still wont recognize
that a battery is installed.
Is it possible both my batteries are bad? If the batteries get "completely"
drained will the TP not recognize them? Is there a way to charge the
battery out of the TP? What is the shelf life of the Li-Ion battery?
How do I get my TP to work off the battery again?
