Thanks to all who responded ... I deleted it (them) in DOS,
ran chkdsk and speedisk (Norton's defrag) ... did a cold boot and here we
are ... no clue as to why it was so large ... I never installed any software
under OS2 ... the machine had whatever it came with ... rarely used OS2
(perhaps I should have) ... and as far as comparative uninstalls (OS2 vs
W95), I've only done the former ... I'm sure the W95 leaves much more litter
... I dread the day I have to start using it ...
I do think that all software reviews should include a
section on the furnished uninstall ... start with a clean machine ...
install the software ... use it for a few days ... run the uninstall and
then note what was left behind ...
I tend to do my own uninstalls ... using Inctrl2 and Norton
Utilities in combination with several .dll analyzers ... but it's still a
tricky business ... I greatly admire those programs which don't use path
statements and keep all their components in a single directory ... with
perhaps a .ini in the Windows directory ... makes them very easy to remove
... and I despise ANY program which stuffs things into the root directory
... it's amazing to see the .logs and other stuff which (unnecessarily) ends
up there ...
Regards and thanks again ... Bob
