I use the TDK Systems DF2814 Global Class V.34 PCMCIA fax/modem with my
701C. It sold as 28.8 (V.34), but an upgrade to 33.6 is available on the
TDK Systems web site. A docking station isn't necessary to use it; the
card slides into one of the Type II slots, and has a cable with a flat
connector to the PCMCIA card on one side and a RJ-45 (standard USA
modular) connector on the other side. It has software for DOS, Windows
3.1, and Windows 95, and a few telephone connector adapters for use in
other countries; using the included software and the correct adapter, the
card is approved for use in about 70 different countries. I think that
TDK Systems now sell a newer Global Class card, but I've been (and
continue to be) happy with this one.
