Open keyboard up .
Remove Floppy and battery pack.
To the left side of the case you should see 2 batteries. If not, there is an
insulator cover that flips up.
One battery will be obvious and consists of 3 cells .
This is NOT the one you want (grin)
The Backup battery is usually under a rectangular piece of plastic the might
be held in place by a screw.
Remove it and you should see a thick quarter sized battery.
Pull it away from the circuit board i.e. unplug it.
Measure the voltage. It should be 2.5 to 3.7 volts according to the HMM.
If it's not replace it ..either Radio Shack by cross referencing the part
number on the cell or
talk to IBM parts. part # 84G2263. . The 3rd party route requires
soldering the wires from the old onto the new.
