I can confirm that it is indeed a pretty good machine; I've had my
380ED about two weeks now (166mmx, 2.1gb, 16mb ram) and it is fast
(even with just 16mb) , the keyboard is superb. Model number is
26355au. (It's one of the ones with a $200 rebate from IBM, which
makes the price very nice)

Mine is the FRSTN type. I had a 701C active previously. Yes, the
380ED is a little less "crisp" and fast than a TFT, but the dual scan
technology in this one is world's better than the older IBM dual
scans. I have no complaints about it so far.
