With a 20MB machine, you could install OS/2 and forget about all your
memory problems. I've got it installed with PCMCIA, audio, ethernet LAN,
and TCP/IP drivers and my DOS boxes still have the base 593k - (I've never
had problems with needing more so I haven't bothered tweaking). If IBM has
fixed a bug with not being able to load DOS high, you should be able to get
~620k in your DOS boxes easy. OS/2 handles all the drivers so they never
infringe on the lower 640k.
Barring that, you can inspect where in memory all your drivers are going,
and play around with the order they're installed in. I found out that the
TP audio drivers (probably not the same version as yours) would exactly fit
in high memory if I bumped DOSKEY into conventional memory.
I wish *I* had a 20MB machine. What with all the multitasking I do, I could
really use it. :-)
