Hello,
I just got 701C, and subscribed this mailing list. The subscription
notificaton recommends me to introduce my machine. It's 701C, DX4/75, 24M,
540M. I also have a noname NE4100 PCMCIA ethernet card. I bought a used
machine. The seller said it 4-months old. But, it dosn't look like that.
I have several things to bothering me. Hearing experience from other 701
owner would be appreciated.
(1) The left half of the body is slightly bent, and it makes a gap to the
keyboard. The keyboard is benting down when typing, so the typing feels
bad. The parts of the case are loosen especially around the left joint of
the screen lid. Seem the butterfly gives a heavy stress to the body. The
body of 701 seems weak. Dose anyboy have a similar problem ?
(2) The battery lamp dosn't work. Just keeps off.
(3) The brightness control dosn't work. The level meter shows up &
working, but I can't see any difference in the screen.
(4) What is usual battery life ? The gas meter says 2:22 after full
charge. But, I can hardly stand over 2 hours even with turning HDD off.
Is it normal ?
(5) Windows 95 crashes after suspend/resume.
(6) Most annoying thing. The TFT screen has 11 bad-pixel. Sigh. Can I
replace using warranty program ?
(7) I heard about good service of IBM. Can I fixed all of the my problem
using the warranty? Also, PCMCIA cover is missing. Where can I get one ?
Is it expensive ?
I like this cute machine. But, I am suffering from used machine.
Thinking of never taking a deal on usenet...
BTW, is there a 701-specific mailing list or FAQ ?
Thanks
