RE: TP701CS/Panasonic KXL-783A/WinNT 4.0
Sorry, but being an owner of a 701CS (with 24MB of RAM and a 520MB HDD) AND a technical support analyst for a computer Retailer I must ask: are you on drugs?!?
The 701 is a great computer, and NT 4.0 is a good OS but it is not meant to run on portable systems! why? why! why? Stick with Windows95 (especially if you can get a copy of OEM-SR2) and be happy it multitasks, recognises and supports all of the ThinkPad's hardware, and IBM still supports the machine with that OS installed.

Subject: TP701CS/Panasonic KXL-783A/WinNT 4.0
I'm trying to load Windows NT 4.0 on a TP701CS using a KXL-783A CD-ROM
drive. Unfortunately the CD-ROM only comes with drivers for NT 3.51 and
I can't get the NT loader to recognize the CD-ROM using the 3.51 driver,
which I suppose makes sense. Anyway there's a DOS work around for this
but it's very time consuming and there doesn't seem to be a way to use
the DOS workaround to load stuff after the system is installed (other
than a complete re-install).
Has anyone loaded NT 4.0 directly from CD-ROM using the KXL-783A and if
you did, how? Alternatively, is there a way to incrementally install or
re-install parts using the DOS workaround?
Thanks!!
