Re: New 701c owner
Hello Peter,
The 701 factory shipped with DOS/Win3.11 only (DX2-50 models) or Dual
Boot - DOS/Win3.11 and OS/2 2.0 (DX4-75 models). There is, to my
knowledge, no preload Win95 CD. As for the manual, it is an on-line
book (Win 3.11 app) under the ThinkPad folder. If you can't find it on
your unit (the previous owner probably did an fdisk and did a fresh
Win95 install [leads to a more stable Win95]) here are the definitions
of the Fn-F# keys.
Fn-F1: System Setup or BIOS
Fn-F2: Battery Gauge
Fn-F3: Enable Standby Mode
Fn-F4: Enable Suspend Mode
Fn-F5: Disable Speaker
Fn-F6: Disable Hard Drive
Fn-F7: Toggle between LCD, CRT or both
Fn-F8: Toggle between Normal and Reverse Video
Fn-F12: Enable Hibernate Mode
Fn-Ins: Increase Contrast (701CS only)
Fn-Del: Decrease Contrast (701CS only)
Fn-Home: Increase Brightness
Fn-End: Decrease Brightess
Fn-PgUp: Increase Volume
Fn-PgDn: Decrease Volume
To Wake up the unit from suspend mode press the Fn key. I hope this
helps you out.
