I've also tried to find a caddy, with the same luck. On a side note, A week ago I swapped my 340 for a Toshiba 1301mav. Formatted with fat32, works like a champ. It is slightly noisier than the OEM. The black tape/shielding on the OEM may account for this. With 1.3g my 701 should prove useful for another year or so. If you do find a cheep source for the caddies, please tell the list.

Hi,
I have been considering and shopping around for HD upgrade (from 540Mb to about 1.3 to 2.0Gb) for my 701C. The thing that's stopping me is that I can't find any dealer that carries a drive with the 701 caddy at a good price. I have compared specs and it seems IBM drives are higher performance than Toshiba drive but they are real hard to find. Bare drives are at good prices now but IBM can't find and probably won't sell me an empty caddy to put the drive in, I would prefer to be able to use the original drive for a second OS. Anyone has any recommendations or sources? Thanks much.
