It is possible with a glitch: you are stuck with 1024x768 virtual screen
resolution. Simply specify both on the "Modes" line in Scren-Display
section and use CTRL-ALT-(keypad +) or (keypad -) to switch between the
modes on the fly, without a server reboot. You can also use
'xvidtune -next' or 'xvidtune -prev' to switch modes. I would recommend
this approach, since virtual scrolling is very useful, especially at
640x480. It also lets you use the Fn-F7 (or equivalent) key on the TP
to toggle between LCD<->LCD&CRT<->CRT modes under X.
If you actually want the virtual resolution to always match the screen
resolution, you must either use two different config files, use
two different depths (16bpp on LCD and 8bpp on monitor), or
configure two different screens, simulating a "dual head" configuration
for the laptop (haven't tried this, but it should work)-- be careful not
to actually run two servers at once!) A server reboot is necessary in
these cases to switch modes.
Regards,
Dave.
