I'm not Randy, but I use a backpack also.

Short answer is nothing.

Long answer is that I have a Silicon Sports (now Kensington) backpack that
has some padding. I've been carrying my TP755CE in it back and forth to
work and on planes for almost 2 years with no discernable damage.

The outside pocket is usually stuffed with paperwork, cases for CDs, extra
HDs, floppies and a Hefty One-Zip bag of misc laptop items (cables,
connectors, power supply, modem line tester, keyboard light, etc.) all of
which tends to keep anything from bumping the TP itself. I try not to set
it down heavily as the padding in the bottom is rather thin after 2 years.

You can get this bag from MacWarehouse (800.255.6227) or (sometimes) from
CompUSA. It's around $70-80.

Hope this helps!
