A very fine concern that one is too.  :)   If you can persuade your
lecturers to wear a unidirectional active noise cancelling microphone and
speak their words clearly and with a very brief pause between every word
then you might be in with a chance to get voice recognition working.  

If you get that far you might try to persuade your lecturers to spend the
hours necessary to give your voice recognition software a good sample of
their speech so as to create a personalised voice model.  (I don't know
about "Simply Speaking", I use IBM's VoiceType).
