Everyone will likely have an opinion on this. I've used both a
Motorola Montana and an IBM "International" modem (made by TDK) on my
701; the former was wonderful and installed instantly and perfectly
under W95, I could never get the latter to work on the 701 in W95. On
the other hand, I've used the latter on a TP560 and a Micron with no
probem, and it has one advantage: you can program in different
carrier/ringer/busy signal detect algorithms for different countries.
My inability to make it work on the 701 might have been my own
incompetence (or my bad 701 karma).
