Thanks to everyone who sent me the tip about xset. That's one
of the frustrating things about Linux. You spend an hour
grep'ing every man page you can think of that might have what
you're looking for, and it's somewhere else. Now if I can just
figure out why xset isn't on my system... :)

Speaking of which, I'm really happy with the glidepoint
keyboard. As I mentioned, the trackpoint needs a lot of
pressure under some OSes, and I suspect it was a contributing
cause to the RSI I suffered my first year in grad school. The
glidepoint is great - no pressure needed. I only wish some
engineer had gotten the bright idea of putting *it* in the
middle of the "natural" keyboard, instead of those uselessly
redundant W95 buttons. It's amazing how much faster you work
when you don't have to take your hands off the keyboard.
