RE: TP 560: two questions

This is a tough call....

IMHO: How a screen looks has little bearing on how well you get your work
done. RAM and HD and general system configuration has more impact than
video. Video you get used to, much easier I might add than heart sickening
swapping due to little RAM. As the system buss speeds are faser in the
P133/P150 variety I would sugest the P133 with the extra stuff, even though
DSTN. As far as performance, I am quite pleased with the P133.

Between 560/P133/2Gb/DSTN and the Omni book, tough call. What is you
brand alliance. (Personally I have decided to boycot HP due to their poor
position on encription). Take into consideration the warrantee very
carefully. IBM offers a service plan for about $220/yr on the 560's after
the first year. Compare that to the ratings and service you might get from
HP. Despite all the hassles I went through with my 701, I can honestly say
(an not because IBM is twisting my arm) I would buy an IBM again. I will
even splurge for the service contract on my 560. I would suggest any
laptop buyer to seriously consider IBM even though they are at a premium of
cost. They have a GREAT track record. EZSERV has been quie fast for the
most part and tech support is usually ok.

Good luck with your decision.
