Since that is likely the case, its simply not a possibility on the 701's. However, there are plenty of external CD-ROM solutions that would likely work fine. Portable numbers, small & lightweight (or not so small), either connected through a PCMCIA card or via your parallel port. I recently got a really cheapo "Backpack" 4x CD-ROM drive that hooks up to the parallel port. Paid a whopping $180 for a re-packed-in-the-box model (I think it was normally about $230 or $250). I would perhaps have preferred one of those ultralight numbers, but it would have cost twice as much.
