I am starting to worry about my tp701. I've been noticing two things
lately:
1) After waking up after hibernate (Fn-F12), the laptop restores to the
point where the screen shows up. Normally until now, the screen would
flicker once again and then I could resume working. Now, the screen
flickers, is erased, and the laptop goes into a hard reboot: it starts
counting RAM and reboots into W95.
Could that have something to do with the backup-battery dying slowly?
I seem to have noticed my bios-settings changing a couple of times when
I ran the normal battery to the ground (emergency-shutdown).
2) What worries me more is that twice I've seen the top half of the
screen (Dual Scan) show vertical colored stripes. They were about two
to three pixels apart and a regular pattern of colors. The first time
it went away the instant I pushed the screen to the back (to get a
better view). The second time I switched from W95 (640x480x65k) to
Bios (Fn-F1). The stripes disappeared partly, especially everywhere
there was no text. This time, slightly twisting the screen (upper right
hand corner forward, upper left hand corner backward and vice versa),
once each way resolved the problem.
Any similar occurences or off to easy serve?
