Re: Iomega ZIP vs. JAZ

Well, I guess my experience with the Jaz drive is slightly different, probably
because I don't use it with my Thinkpad. I replaced my SCSI tape backup unit
on my Pentium tower with the Jaz drive. Now I use it not only for backups,
but for storing the incredible amounts of Thinkpad drivers, software, etc. It
saves me from having to dig through a pile of diskettes everytime I want to
re-load something.

My only complaints are very minor.

1. I had a hell of a time to configure the drive letters for the machine.
Now that it's done however, I don't remember what I did to resolve it.

2. On occasion, my computer freezes and I have to reboot. When I wonder why
my machine is so slow to boot, I realize that I have to pop out the Jaz
cartridge and reinsert so the SCSI controller can see it.

Other than that, I love the speed and format of it. Mind you, I was an avid
user of the the Bernoulli Box when they had the 20MB cartridges.
