701c modem won't connect

I bought a used 701c. I love it, but I can't get the internal modem
to connect anywhere. I've tried with ZOC, In-Joy and FaxWorks for
OS/2. I've tried using AT&F as an init string. Nothing works. Well,
actually I connected once with In-Joy, but then got a string of
invalid fcs errors and a failed connection. I also sent a fax from a
fax machine; the transmission seemed to go fine, then it failed with
a comm error at the end.

Oh, and where can I purchase the modem manual? It wasn't there when
the machine arrived. Thanks.
