Just guessing, but it might just be an applet like the sound applet you
get. You don't HAVE to have it for your sound card to _work_, but it
adds a few tweaks...
It could also have something to do with the ability to pull the card out
and have the system recognize it so when you put a different card in
while the system is up it'll recognize the change. The default Win95
drivers might be static (for lack of a better term).
