Re: (screen-) size... (was 770 price cut)
Hi everybody,
I just can't take it anymore: What's the point of having a 14" or 15"
display on a notebook anyway?
Doesn't anybody care about size, weight and battery life anymore?
I have a TP 750, which I will replace with a 560X as soon as prices have
come down a bit (or rather a lot, actually).
My TP 750 weighs less than 6 pounds, has a four hour battery life and
its footprint is roughly A4 sized (297x210 mm; a little longer and
narrower than letter size (279x216 mm or 11x8.5")), its thickness is
about 1.2". Someone beat that recently?? (OK, OK the screen sucks and it
is too slow, but the only small and lightweight alternative to me seems
the 701 which is too slow by now as well. The 560 is slim, but its
footprint - as well as just about every notebook's out there - is large)
Having said that, the only real solution for a truly portable (remember:
WEIGHT, SIZE, AND BATTERY LIFE) notebook that is available now is the
560X, but as soon as the next generation of Intel "portable" Pentiums
comes along, battery life will be an issue again because of excessive
CPU power demand (or so I hear and read everywhere).
The only way to go for me: Wait with buying a TP 560X until the next
generation has come to market and prices for the 560X have dropped,
hoping that it will not be discontinued too soon.
Sorry for all the rambling, but I had to get that off my chest.
