I traded up my ol' reliable TP700 (mono) for a TP701 a couple of years ago
-- actually, I passed the 700 on to another person in our organization.
But a year or so before I did this, I purchased a replacement hard drive
from an outfit called Sigma Data Systems (or Sigma something-or-other). It
wasn't cheap: @ $500 for a 350-meg unit. Sigma shipped it with good
instructions and the files needed to effect the changes in the 700 BIOS or
whatever.
Both 700 machine & Sigma hard drive are still working. The basic 700 is a
real truck. The battery wore out, but what the heck. My 701 has been
truckin' on for coming up on 3 years now, too. (I never attempt to pick it
up by the lid or keyboard.....). <Sigh> Wish I could put a Pentium in
that 701 case....
