When attempting to resume, my screen unblanks, the disk whirs a bit, but
the Linux console is hopelessly locked up.  Further, I can no longer
suspend with Fn-F4; it blinks the suspend light for several seconds,
beeps, and stays in the hung state.

This always worked fine for me on a 760C, a 760E, and a 770.
