Genoa cards have a reputation for using innovative tricks to get surprisingly good performance despite price-reducing shortcuts. In particular, they used to have some tricks for getting near-VRAM performance from cheap DRAM chips (or is it the other way around? I get these ?RAMs confused!). I haven't looked at this card, but I'll bet it is surprisingly good for the money (though likely not as good as more expensive, better-known brands). As a caveat, I had a genoa card about 9 years ago that was pretty bad (though to give them credit, Genoa did a good job of supporting the thing, and the utilities that came with the card were pretty extensive). I think SurplusDirect is being bought by Egghead, for what that's worth. - David R.
