Commercial duplicators have that feature, builtin hard drive, but all of
the normal units depend on a steady flow. They do have buffers, 512k and 2
mb are common, with the trend going back to 512k. That is something just
less than a second, but apparently if something is going to glitch for half
a second most likely it will nail you even with a two second buffer.

I think you are correct though that the driver stuff may be snafu.

I wonder if the W95 installer maker will even do something on a CDROM, or
is it just for floppies?
