TP 360PE

I've upgraded the OS on my ThinkPad 360PE to Win95 now, and have
everything working, including Pen Services 2.0. (Boy, I kind of like
the old pen services better...kind of miss the gestures and so forth).

I still have a problem with the video, though. I believe the video card
has 1MB, but the only drivers I could find for it (on ibm.com) is a DOS
TSR (VESA.EXE) that you load either in config.sys or autoexec.bat. When
I load it, I can see 256 colors at 640x480, but MAN is it slow! The
whole system lugs along when in 256 color mode. It is so slow that it
really makes the pen functionality useless. If I drop back to the
native Win95 drivers (16 color...sigh) then the pen runs fast enough to
be acceptable. I'm sure this is because the drivers are real mode.

Has anyone out there found a better Western Digital driver for this
model than the ones offered on ibm.com? I wonder if microsoft.com would
have better drivers? I consider 256 colors to be a minimum for any kind
of functionality (I don't play games on this machine, but 16 colors is
just too limiting), but I can't stand the slow down!

Also, has anyone out there heard if Win98 is going to have pen
extensions? I wonder if I'll be able to upgrade to that OS when the
time comes???
