Subject: Battery power indicator
Just a question about the battery power indicator on the desktop. The little
battery icon that tells how much battery time is remaining when you move
the mouse over it usually has a +/- sign on the battery icon.
The 701C that I use decided about a month ago to stop working with
battery power although the battery seemed to be fine. After sitting for a
month, suddenly the battery power is back online, except that now the
power indicator had an icon that is a battery with a question mark in it...
the owner (my mom) was quite distressed, but this is normal for her. I
had never seen that icon before and thought maybe it was just because
the battery was so low that it was not really measureable. Then I thought
that I should ask the TP group since there is such a wealth of knowledge
here. Has anyone seen that icon? What does it mean?
The good news out of this is that where I thought the battery was toast
and needed to be replaced, it now seems to be working fine. After I left
the battery and the question mark icon to charge overnight, the battery
and the power meter were back to normal. Just another adventure in
owning a thinkpad, which has been back to EZServ twice and had the
top and bottom boards and the floppy replaced already, within a year.
Thanks
Grant
