Well, I've only seen two types of caddies for the 701 (the IBM one and a plastic knock-off that's fairly similar), and there are a bunch out there. it may be that the caddy/drive you looked at was harder to take apart. However, on the ones I've seen, all you need to do is: 1. unscrew the screws that hold it in the caddy, 2. gently pull the drive toward the plug-in end so that the other end can lift up out of the caddy, and 3. gently work the connector off the drive.
