Nothing really *wrong* with it, I just didn't care for it. I ran it
for about 2 weeks on one of my 560s (since sold), and found the TP
Warper pages quite handy in getting it up and running. I downloaded
plenty of shareware and played around with it, but it finally came to
this: I've got a lot of software I've gotten used to over the years
that wouldn't run under OS/2, and I decided I don't want to do without
them.
The problem with Linux was similar, and included the fact that the
learning curve is very steep for it, imo. When I got my first Windows
computer (an IBM 355), I was able to play around enough to get things
going, poking around here and there. With Linux, I spent the majority
of the time reading manuals and man pages, or trying to recall various
commands. My productivity ground to a halt, and it became apparent
that it would be awhile before I got better. Right now, I don't have
that time to spend, but may try again in the future.
From what I've seen and read, NT is more stable than Windows 95 or
98, will run all my apps or even better versions since I'm using all
32-bit programs (except for a game called WinRoids, a Windows version
of Asteroids I've played for years and years), and is supported well
enough by IBM for me to get by until 5.0 comes out to see if I want to
give that a try. Since I'm planning on this system lasting me a while,
I want it running as well as it can.
