 I do not like this aspect of this as well.  It is not "unlimited
 usage" but "usage until the player breaks."
     
     I just realized that when they give you usage they are not changing 
     the disk at all!  They must have a eeprom or other device in the 
     player that stores id information from the disk along with a 
     decryption key or information from the authorization center.  There is 
     time limit stored for the 48 hour window and no time limit for the 
     unlimited.
     
     Given that people like to defeat these things no doubt someone will 
     figure out how the whole system works.  I expect to see a device in
     a year or two that you could use to "clone" authorization data from 
     one player to another.
